Stricter Seller Restrictions

I'd like to see a much stricter seller restrictions. Such as a minimum amount of posts, minimum time on the forum, etc

i use the 30+posts/30+days on another forum and it works well. You'll get a general thread that's the "where the hell is the classifieds area...."

You then explain the rules to the clearly upset person on the reasons and logics behind said rule. They then tell you that it's stupid, etc. However, you know what they're up to right off the bat and aren't too interested in having them in the community to begin with.

Works for me

Most forums, such as Acurazine, maxima.org, 6thgenaccord, superhonda all have restrictions to prevent random non-forum regulars from peddling their goods. This is an attempt to ensure that people who sell have some sort of "credibility" or some sort of commitment before they sell.

It's just another method of buyer/seller protection.

Nittany, careful where you step next on your reply, i think i can see where you're going....

i think there either should be 2 qualifications
1. the seller has 50 posts/+2 v6p feedback/has been a member for at least 2 years
2. or they get the thread locked until they PM admin that they have existing feedback on any other site

If a post rule is put in to place you need to be able to make a "block" so those who have less the X posts cannot post a thread...

No.

I personally feel that it may be a good idea that we have tighter restrictions on the f/s section. Only problem is people who, in the past, have been credible by post count standards, have still burned other members. I don't think creating a post count minimum will prevent bad transactions. It may hinder a high amount, but not eliminate.

There are certain people who could come here just to sell things that could be good people, and those things sold could benfit our members if prices are right.

^He has a point. If we don't lock out members with say, less than 50 post, they will post f/s threads anyway. That creates more work for us.

Can we do such a thing Michael?

In all honesty, you cannot eliminate scammers. But i think a restriction will definitely decrease and hinder the amount. So this is a good beginning. If reputable members from other boards are interested in selling, we can give them the option of sending a message to the appropriate moderator, and have the mods link back to their original post on their perspective forums. With appropriate review of their credentials on other forums first of course.

I don't like the 50 post rule on 6thgenaccord. Keeps me from selling even though I have almost 5000 posts on this board and everyone on that other board already knows me.

If such a rule is put up, please allow for exceptions, and none of that "I only enforce the rules, I don't make them"

People here also have the ability to NOT buy from certain users. If someone has less than 50 post, then don't buy.

But if this rule IS put up, we will enforce it. So, some of us will say that. If an admin here tells me to do something, I do it. Even if I don't like it. It's happened in the past, it will happen again I'm sure.

Hence why I mentioned earlier to allow for exceptions, if not just allow the person to pm the admin.

another possiblity is if you don't have enough posts or not a seasoned member then an established member have to vouch for you, especially for 'high dollar' items ($200+?)

i think other rules like having to post an asking price and no ebay links should be enforced to...

i think we should make a separate bar or something where you HAVE to enter the price of the item youre selling - like perhaps $100+ items are screened to make sure that people who are selling expensive stuff are reputable, if youre getting ripped off something like $20, then thats petty, and this would create less work for the mods instead of screening everything

Thats what I think also, this is just like ebay or any other classifieds people use..use their trader rating as a reference, or maybe a trustworthy member who vouches...doesn't matter how long you have been on here, or how many posts...a thief is a thief, and a thief has the ability to POST...thats all i'm saying...keep it the way it is..

Personally, I'll throw my opinion against this idea. Like SixSpeeder said, each member has a choice whether to buy from a new member, or one with limited activity. The overall beneficiary of sellers are the members alike. If you don't trust the seller, don't pursue the item for sale. Or do some homework across the interweb. More often than not, a seller can be found on another forum and his or her reputation verified, whether it be negative or positive. The old adage applies, buyer beware. We shall continue to enforce the rules as they pertain to businesses peddling their goods on this site to further their business. We have rules in place to handle their proper execution.

Thats what rubbed me wrong a few days ago...i went a little overboard on my responses but having 20k+ post online and 100% feedback on 80+ items through ebay should have accounted for something...o well I posed no threat to buyers.

I concur with kramer2k <<---- "if its not boken dont fix it"

I think there should be some sort of rules for selling stuff, looks to me like theres a SEVERE increase in the amount of problems with sellers these days...

And where did all this hate come from on v6p? It was fine a few months ago, now we have all these people saying who did what where and how bad they are.. etc... etc...

All the hate came from the fact that we lost our punching bag, Klepto. He was the outlet for all our rage and hate.
