Last night we installed TEIN Flex(TSX) on Jobata23's 06 Accord sedan so I thought I should share the things we faced along with my personal experience with different setups.

TEIN-Flex compared to other popular coilovers from TEIN, have two different adjustments. You can adjust the height by moving the Perch up or down(same as compressing or decompressing the springs on shocks) which of course effects the ride quality. Less compression means a bit softer ride quality(like stock, higher car) while more compression(lower car) will give you bouncy ride because the springs are compressed so they wont absorb the bounce(wont compress more to absorb it). On the other hand, more compressed springs(more lower) will give you better handling versus the less compressed springs. It also depends on the spring rate, higher spring rate means the springs will need more force to compress thus giving you a bouncier ride.

The second adjustment on the Flex is slightly harder to explain but I'll try. Most of the time, the bottom of the shock(where it connects to the lower arm) is fixed. Means you cannot rotate just the base of the shock but in TEIN Flex you can. It also adjusts the height without sacrificing the ride quality or performance(without compressing or decompressing the springs). For comparison other coilovers from TEIN like Basic and SS(along with other shocks like Koni, Tokico etc), the only way to adjust the height is to change the springs rate(compressing or decompressing).

As far as the installation goes, the front is a direct swap without any hassle or modification but the rear was slightly different. The rear knuckle(of the car) was wider than the strut just like the Koni shocks. You need to put a few washers to make it a snug fit(People with Konis will understand this part better). I forgot to take a note of the washer size but I'll check with Jobata23 and add to this later.

Finally the test drive. On the SS-P, the springs rate is 9 Front/6 Rear while the Flex have a spring rate of 14 front / 8 Rear so the ride quality is different. I personally like the FLEX better but since we just installed it last night, Iam gonna it a week or two to settle before giving a final opinion.

What people(esp Noobs) must understand that the Coilovers/shocks etc wont give you everything. The wheels, tires, strut and sway bars also contribute to the overall suspension. My car on SS-Ps with 18" wheels and Ultra high performance summer tires is bouncier than Jobata's car on SS-P with stock 17 and all season tires.

Hey this is great news indeed.

So how is it so far? Looks like I'm also going this route with my sedan now. Any news about the washer size used?

There is no mono tube flex for the TSX. And on TEIN's website I think they say it's available at special request only?

i heard they changed the RSX to mono tubes, and some other models...i dunno if all of them changed or not tho.

they are available... I just dont think tein keeps them in stock over here... special order just like the tein cs.

Wow... Seems like a pretty good thing for us 7th genners... It also says that you can use EDFC with it too!!! That would be the way I would have it set up... If I had almost $2000 for the setup... Funny thing is the EDFC only costs $365... The Tein Flex costs around $1600... Ouch
