Has anyone done a dash swap on the accord? Asking as been helping out a friend with a J32 swap and when taking the CL-s apart i noticed that most of the parts interchange with the CG2. As my friend was not going to use the dash i got it for myself.

Ill start the swap at the end of the month after i get more parts for the dash but was thinking that maybe someone here has done it before ?

The dash looks much nicer then the CG2 has:

I think i need the centerconsole metall brackets to to attach the navi screen.

Well what can I say..... i need the tube frame that is under the dash from the acura as the side is a bit different, not much that a cutter can not handle but i want it to be stock :)

So far it seems to be plug and play.

Started with

Dash out:

Had to remove the center console frame as the acura has a different one...but all the bolts alligne

First test fit:

If lucky will have it swapped by the end of the week. So far i am likeing the new dash :)

to my knowledge, no one has tried it on this site.

1 big hurdle might be the gauge cluster...but maybe some re-pinning would make it work.

I got my eye on another cluster but no matter what i use i will have to repin the plugs.

I will have to repin the AC,defog and headlight washers anyway :) so thats no problem :)

Will see about the GPS as the previous owner of the car had unloaded a 6kg dry extinguisher under the dash after an accident. The radio did not power on at first so i had to clean the circuitboards and solder some pins over but its alive. Last time i tested the GPS display i got no picture but i might be able to resurect it after i take it apart. Might also think of swaping the unit out for a newer one. Will see as at the moment i just want to get the interior back together.

I think im skiping the CL-s cluster as i got my eye on a TL 2004-2008 cluster and cover fro about 100USD :rolleye2: Will need a bit more work but as the dash swap is going to be too easy i might as well take up the challange.

Will try to swap the door panels to as all the parts i have swaped so far a all plug-n-play.... a bit creepy but as the CG2 is a US car it might be more of a ACURA then other hondas :)

So i took the dash out again and swapped the subframe too. You can use the stock frame but then you need to cut the sides so the dash will fit in. Some parts on the other side will get in the way if you do not....also found a problem after i had refitted the subframe....i need the passanger airbag from the CL-s to as the mounting points are way off. Lucky for me the airbag is for grabs to :)

Here is a picture of the drivers side of the subframe:

Right is CL and left is CG2. Other then the sides and airbag mount it is the same.

Now the dash. I have found so far that one part will not work. The vent that goes from the center to the driver side is to small and will get in the way of the airflow valve or how ever you call it.
Here is a picture:

Left is accord and right is CL-s you can cut it wider but it will not help much. What i did was i cut the bottom part of the accord and just used a heatgun to melt CL over the accord one. If to lazy can just mcgyver it .

Was getting late so did not have much time to get it all in but i got the wiring on the dash and just have to see how the plug are and then can but it all in and screw it down :)

Well seems to be going good :) Now need to connect the last plugs and screw some relays in place and can start with the re-pining of the radio and cluster plugs.

I did run into a small problem that was easy to fix. The sides of the dash are made a bit different and will need a small cut as (not needed if you get the front windshield side cover/panel ( Sry english is not my mane language so have no idea what the name of the part is)

You can see from the picture what i mean the accord side is much lower and will get in the way

To bad the dash was not from a 6 speed CL-s as i will have to mode the armrest to work with the e-brake: My idea is to use the panel from the accord so it looks like on the accord :)

Damn I need to get a gearbox for the NSX engine so i can rip the A/T shifter out ....and but a manual shifter in there. :D
But for the time i will have to live with it.

Ihhh ugly shifter :barf:

Pros: The center console marble finish looks really nice

Cons: Harder to work with

One of the big reasons I love the honda accord dash is that it's so damn easy to work with. I can take off two screws and gain access to everything in the center dash. This might not seem like a big deal, but I am constantly tinkering with my iphone/LCD install so its a big plus.

That said, very impressive swap you have there !

Still no picture on the display but radio turns on (missing code however) and the climate control work....sort of :p I need to go over the wires one more time as it works but does not change mode when i press front windshield button. Also how in the hell can i control the airflow ??? :D There is no button for that ...the CL has only got rear defog, windshield , temp up and down, inner flow, off and auto. The rest is via the display ?.

Sad part is that the only accord coupe 2000 manual i got is in spanish. I got a english CL-s and TL manual that covers the dash but now need to decode the wires on the accord :) But i am getting there. Will continue tomorrow.

Well now i have hit a problem  actualy two. One i might be able to resolve. Am missing the GPS unit and the dispaly will not turn on... Might get the display on a nother way but will have to do some homework.

The bad problem is the radio code. Talked to a local honda dealer as they do no sell acuras here and all acuras that are sold are import.
They said that they will not give me the code for the radio even if i have the vin, the serial and the radios U and L code. They need me to take the original car and radio into the service and then they will get the code for me :banghead: The tech just laughed and say good luck with my new paperweight
Did register on the acura page but they need a phone number and the zip code where the card was sold in the states..... no idea on that.

Been on the phone and finally found a person at local honda dealer who looked the code up for me so now i have a working radio :) bad part however is that i took the display apart and the LCD has gotten a blow to one of the sides and well the LCD is cracked.
Might try to replace the LCD as i got a 7 ins screen for a LCD portable DVD player but no idea if the screen will work on with the CL-s one.
Luckly there are a few displays sale on ebay to but if i am lucky might score a 2004 accord navi display. :) will see in a week or so.

Did most of the cluster wiring today so just a few more wires and can test the CL-s cluster to :)

That display is nothing special, as it's rather outdated. I would really consider just putting a different type of display in there. Some people have just popped in a 7" tablet into it instead.
