so many threads on AEM, but here's a new question. I just got my intake in today, and man was i disappointed. A dent on the end of the pipe where it goes into the engine, and the AEM sticker is UPSIDE Down! makes me a bit skeptical whether or not this is some manufacturer defective intake. :ugh:

Question: the v2 has 2 chambers, the small one, then going into the fat one. When the small ones changes to the fat one, does the piping still go through the inside of the fat one? I thought it would just cut off @ the weld, but the skinny pipe goes almost 1/2 through the Fat chamber. Is this normal or is the skinny pipe suppose to be already cut off @ the weldpoint where the fat meets skinny?

I've read some posts about people recieving dented V2's before. My bet is that it was a shi*ty packing job. As for the piping, I'm fairly sure that the piping is supposed to be that way. That's sort of the AEM thing that differentiates them from competitors. My injen is just a pipe that is one diameter the whole length of the intake.

it just seems like my FAT pipe is put on top of the small pipe, cause my small pipe still resides INSIDE the fat pipe for a good 8 inches, which means the diameter of the pipe isn't really changed until the middle of the fat pipe where the skinny pipe ends INSIDE. The Fat pipe is acting like a CONDOM for my skinny pipe right now as it overlaps each other, rather than having 2 different diameters inside, any AEM owners that have the same thing?

I think it explains it clearly on their website. Click on the V2 Interactive Product Demonstration then choose Air Resonance when the V2 Demo menu pops up.

Your diagram looks about right. The dual chambers help produce multiple frequency sound waves to help promote cylinder filling at higher RPMs. I'm guessing this is the technology of the V2 that helps add more power at the upper ranges of the RPMs.

All I gotta say about the V2 is that it has a deeper and better sound growl than the original AEM CAI.

just installed it after wait'n almost 3mths for this. I'm getting a weird FART noise when i turn off my car...instead of the steady hiss/whistle sound when i turn off my engine, the intake pauses for 1 sec after the car is off, then a PUFF (fart noise coming from the intake), as if the car just farted... anyone experience this? I'm hoping it's just cause it needs to be broken in and the ECU adjusted to the new intake, but i hope it's just that.

i can't really hear my intake when i drive...must be the damn mufflers drowing out the noise!

did u reset your ecu? if so you need to relearn it. open your users manual and follow the instructions for getting a good emissions inspection road test. that way the ecu learns faster.

very interesting the noises your getting from your car. i have this whistling..leaking noise at low rpms that i hate.

once you open it up it growls..

It's normal for that puff sounds when you turn off the car. It's the air releasing from the intake. The whistling/hissing sounds comes at about 2K-2.2K RPM. Yeah, just relearn that ECU and you're set. :up2: I bet you're relieved now to finally have it in.

oh man I have an Injen and I f-ing love the way it sounds, I think its perfect, when I get an exhaust system I want it to be almost completely silent so I can just hear my intake growl.

does everyone get that puff sound?
My friends 02 accord v6 coupe has this nice gradual whistle sound that dies off graducally as his engine shuts w/out a puff. The puff honestly sounds like my car is farting, from all the CAI i've seen on my friends car, no one has this puff. Not a major concern tho, just wondering if all AEMV2 users experience this or not, cause in the 02 accord, it does not.

I hove no farting sound but if I listen really close I can hear an air release, more like a silent fart, not a loud one. You see, as we all know, farts come in many different styles. You need to clairify which fart your car is making.
My intake was also dented at the opening that mounts to the intake manifold, I just took some pliers and slowly bet it back into shape.

Okay, now that you have your intake installed, was it worth all the frustration and headaches getting it there?

take off the driver side tire, worst part of the install is getting the factory airbox and resonator out.

remove bumper, so much easier, gives u plenty of playing room to position the intake.
