Hey all,

I'm trying to install the EDFC myself (the box has been sitting in my garage for nearly 9 months). Anyways, I got my front motors on but the directions don't really explain how to thread the wire/cables to the cabin from the engine bay? I've searched online for anything dealing with edfc in particular or even for all general wiring purposes... wondering if anyone has done the install themselves or knows of a site with some photos I could use for reference. Thanks for your helpppppp!

Hi,

I just did the install myself a couple of weeks ago. The manual will not explain how to route the wires from the engine bay to the cabin (I don't think that's their problem since it varies from car to car).

The wires need to go through a grommet. I used the same one I did for the amp/sub wiring. It's on the left just behind the strut tower. You will need to make a hole there and push the wires through.

Each motor will be connected to an extension wire, then both extensions connect to one wire which should be in the cabin that connects directly to the edfc unit.

many thanks cups. Did you have any trouble screwing the motors onto the coilovers? I had to use some force to get them to catch onto the threads. But I'm worried I'm going to kill the clicking mechanism when I turn the motors on.

Expensive; but pretty damned cool.... I was looking at the option; but jeez you've gotta be rolling in paper stacked higher than 6 feet tall to afford it.

Well the instructions weren't that accurate if you ask me. I mean it asks you to rotate it 3 full revolutions and then 2 more or something like that but somewhere in the middle it just stops.

I never used force, whenever it looked like it won't go anymore I just remove it and put it back. Only the first one gave me trouble but then I figured it out and the rest were fine.

Basically if you follow the instructions carefully by the time you're done and is asking you to torque the motor by hand it's already tight and won't move, you just make sure it's tight. I reached this point and was wondering "how am i supposed to CONTINUE tightening the motor and it wont move?!?" then just left it like that and all is working fine and the motors are tight.

Man cups, I don't know what I'm doing wrong. I rotated the slotted screw three revolutions and then tried to screw on the motor. But the motor doesn't catch onto anything, it just glides around like a lazy susan. So it never stops, I mean there should be at least some friction letting you know that the threads are catching onto the coilover shaft right?

Okay what coilovers do you have? And is this the new or old edfc? (new controller is black and motors are smaller). Not sure if installation differs between new and old but it could.

Did you get the correct kit for your coilovers? There is more than 1 edfc kit to buy depending on what setup you have.

Now given that all this is right, did you replace the hex screw with the one provided with the edfc kit? I know the instructions are clear but just making sure you didn't overlook it or something. You should have no problems there, just put the new hex screw until it's flush in (don't screw it back all the way like the original screw). Fit the motor. Rotate the screw 3 FULL revolutions (not 1 and a half) that's 360° x 3 (the image in the manual shows HALF a revolution). Rotate the motor until it stops (it WILL stop) then do 2 more revolutions and by the time you reach here the motor will fit tightly there just try to rotate it by hand making sure it's fixed well.

My edfc is 12120 (new) which fits SS-P and Flex.

EDIT: and don't forget to make sure the motor shaft rotates smoothly after you're done here otherwise you'll have to remove and try again.
