After getting my 6-6 a week ago, I have been looking up lots of stuff related to the J30A (and the car in general). Given that Honda engines are known for craptastic rod ratios, I wanted to see what it is on the J30A. I could find no numbers. But I did find a couple of sources suggesting a 162mm rod. With an 86mm stroke, this works out to a rod ratio of 1.88:1! This is FAR better than the 1.74:1 rod ratio of the B16A, and even slightly better than the 1.84:1 rod ratio of the B16B. If true, I find it odd that a (relatively) lower revving V6 gets such a spectacular rod ratio while engines designed to rev high (specifically, the B17A, B18C, and K20) are all forced to make due with a mediocre rod ratio of around 1.6:1. Am I reading this right? Is the J30A rod ratio really THAT good?

Shorter rod ratios allow engines to rev higher. Longer means more torque.
