So searched around and found info on connecting the ipod to either an aftermarket HU or the single CD factory HU, does anyone know how to directly connect it to the 6 indash CD changer for a 01 accord?

Can't do it. There's no auxillary plug on the 6 CD changer. The single disc changer has the plug you need to connect it. I would downgrade to the single disc because as soon as you connect your iPod...the CD drive is only for the rare occassions when someone brings a CD into your car for you to listen to.

there are kits out there that let you connect the ipod to your stock CD changer. it lets you control the ipod from your radio controls. it cost about $150. you can only skip and back tracks. in order to select a different playlist or album, you have to disconenct your ipod and chose the playlist and then plug it back in. very limited in function.

BUT!

If you buy an Alpine 9881, it comes with a FULL SPEED iPod interface. if you go on eBay and crutchfield you can get it for the same price as the device listed above. plus you get FULL ipod functionality and fast control. AND you get the Alpine headunit. I just bought the Alpine 9883, its probably the best stereo investment. It makes my STOCK rear speakers sound like subwoofers. I swear. Oh yeah, and Crutchfield has free shipping, free installation gear, free instructions specific to your car, and FREE iPOD INTERFACE CABLE. Basically EVERYTHING you need to put in your car. Thats wheree i bought mine.

The Alpine 9881 is $180. That includes free ship installtion gear, etc.

The Alpine 9883 (what i have) is $200. and includes free iPod interface cable ($30 value). So i guess you would save $10 and have a better product if you spent the extra $20 and bought the 9883.

So above all, you should buy a new headunit. Alpine has one of the best iPod interfaces IMO. You will only be spending $50 more if you buy a new headunit, plus you get so much more. Trust me, even if you are on a tight budget, you wont regret spending $50 more. The sound quality difference is mind blowing. I wasnt a believer at first until i turned my new headunit on for the first time. Good luck
