I just looked and there is nothing on the sides. I got the serial number from the radio yesterday and 2 other numbers that were on the side and top of the radio. How would the dealer know the correct code?

By providing you VIN the dealer can give your the radio code.

the dealer can only provide you with your radio code if they have the serial # to that head unit. if the headunit was swapped out for some reason, and the dealer doesnt know it they would be giving you the wrong code. its best to look up the serial number and tell them that way the dealer can give you the correct code.

i didnt have too, i believe most dealers are willing to give you the code if you have the number. i think when they want to charge you is when they have to open up your dash to get the number.

When I needed my code, one dealer said $10 if I take it out and give them the serial # and 65 if they do it, and another dealer said $85 either way. But some dealerships do it for free. For me, I got someone that worked at a honda dealership to get it for free :)

Don't pay more than $10, it really should be free.

i dont plan on paying since my car did not have one in it. As much $hit that was wrong with it when I bought it and it was "certified" they do not want to piss me off.
