I'm having knee surgery in the near future and won't be able to drive a clutch/manual transmission for a significant amount of time. Would it be easy to replace the manual transmission with an automatic?

I want to keep all of the manual tranny parts intact for the day when I can return to driving it.

Is it only a matter of swapping the trannies out and hooking up the auto ecu? Or are there wiring changes and subframe differences?

It will probably make best economic sense to trade this car in, but I'm just curious to see what all would be required...I know this is blasphemy to many of you.

Thanks

just buy a cheap automatic beater but something that's reliable, like a civic. use that until you recover. it'd cost about the same anyway, if not less than it is to swap trannys
