The operator's manual forbids the use of DOT 5 fluid in the Honda braking system, saying it will cause extensive damage. Now what about 5.1? It is not silicone based and is compatible with DOT 3 and 4 fluids, but not DOT 5. If you can mix them, why would 5.1 damage the braking system on the Accord?

Your response is appreciated. Thanks!

I'm not sure if you can run it, but I don't think you'd need such high performance brake fluid for the street. If you want to upgrade, I recommend the ATE Super Blue brake fluid. It'll work with our cars and is supposed to outperform all other DOT4 fluids. If you want to be really extreme, Castrol SRF is another option, but pricey at 75 a bottle (vs. 12 per bottle for ATE).
