Yes, looks silly but it works and gives us options to retain the dual climate and install a different head unit.

The Unit looks to be pretty good quality, how do you like it and how much, where did you buy this kit from?

 

I got it from installer.com but they recently upped the price. The cheapest place to get it now is from Ebay.

The screen would look nicer up top but if you look at the dash without the head unit in, you'd see that there is very little room up top for a DD to fit.

 

You are referring to the space behind the new climate control unit, there is no room to fit a radio there. I think 05accord6spd is referring to the placement of the temperature buttons.

Does the off button turn on the radio; does any other buttons turn on the climate control besides?

Does the climate control remember your last setting; for example at the next restart, does it go back to the last setting before you shut the car off?

The buttons on the metra kit have nothing to do with the radio. When the climate control is off, hitting any button other than Auto doesn't do anything at all. You HAVE to hit Auto to get it to turn on. I emailed Metra asking them if this is how the kit is supposed to work but haven't heard back from them yet.

If you leave the climate control on when you turn the car off then yes.

no, once plugged in, it automatically learns your car if it is dual or single. The video says dual or manual control so I'm assuming that when he said manual, he is referring that climate control being a single climate controled.

Lmao did anyone see the video for the lower cubby replacement? This is to replace the factory pocket because.... it works better than the factory pocket. Idk about all that... shoulda just made a double din mount kit for the lower cubby too.

 

After talking it over with people on another forum, it looks like the wiring directions in the Metra manual are incorrect. I'm going to change the wiring per their suggestions this weekend and see if that fixes the buttons not lighting up.

 

Yes the off button turns the climate control completely off.

I saw some of the other photos, in some of the photos, it looks as if the buttons do light up but not 100% certain that it does. I am also following your other threads on other forums. Looking at the manual, the backlight LCD does change colors. I would be interested if the buttons do light up.

 

The buttons do not light up. I changed the wiring and still nothing. Oh well.

it comes with all the harness you need. Just note that the provided cubby hole is not as deep as OEM.

 

Looks like I forgot to update the thread saying that the kit does in fact light up.

Nevermind, I figured it out. Need to plug in the 6 pin connector.....

I'm not sure why people expect it to be cheap when it has HVAC controls built into it.

Hmm i've been debating on this but like most people said $300 is expensive, the $214 link wasn't so bad.

Did you guys happen to take a picture of the wiring harness/back of the unit? or perhaps a video of it in action.
