Hey jw if anyone has had issues with the gaskets on the PCD's, had PCD'd for about 1 year/5,000 miles and just this last week i noticed exhaust smell in my cab and a little different pitch than the normal rasp, when I brought it to midas they said both front and back gaskets were leaking/bad. Then i almost had to laugh when they told me it would be $50 for the set and $590 for labor so i grabbed the gaskets from acura for 20 bux. Sorry for the novel but just wondering if anyone else has experienced this.

Call Rich he'll probably send you new ones for free lol. I've used his gaskets for pre-cat deletes, 4 different J-pipes, and test pipes and never had any issues.

Now that I think about it the gaskets provided for the manifold are Honda parts so I really think that shop was trying to pull a fast one; replacing those would be like 30 min worth of labor. Good luck

Im starting to notice the rasp sound from the precats (not the back of the exhaust) to be a lot louder nowadays. Wondering if they are the precat gaskets that are leaking... All the bolts on the whole exhaust are tight. So either i got a cracked precat/jpipe or the gaskets on mine are gone too. Let me know if they made a difference on yours. I have about 30,000-35,000 miles on mine.

the gasket from the head to the PCD is honda OEM. they are metal gaskets and they don't fail. Check your PCD for cracks. I literally cracked a set of V2's after 2 track events.

That might be it. Im on my third set of precats since last April. Well im on my third rear precat and 2nd front precat. All of the above cracked when i was running a stock catback. No problems since i put on the Tsudo catback.

I would say its sounding more like one of my precat is cracked. Its been getting worse since friday.

Nellynel8512, what kind of exhaust are you running?

From my experience, the first rear precat had a crack at the top weld (not at the flange). The second rear precat (which Richie reinforced the top welds) cracked at the top flange. The front precat cracked at the top weld also. Take a look around those areas for a crack.

My check engine light came on when the precats cracked at the top welds. That would make sense since the crack was between the two O2 sensors. My check engine light did not come on when it cracked at the flange. The sound was just getting worse and worse. I installed the Tsudo catback in october and have not had any problems yet.. until now maybe?? its too hot outside to check hahaha.

aaah yes get that CEL checked. Most likely 02 sensor on the precats. The NRG damper should help a little. I installed an ingall torque damper after last precat cracked and now have XLR8 75a engine mounts. it should help minimize the stress put on the precats.

When you install the PCD's make sure you bolt the J-pipe up before you tighten the head bolts. This should help minimize the stress that the exhaust itself is putting on them.

I have the HFPCs (not the PCDs) Rich made for the 3g/7g this summer.
The welds are really, really beautiful.

But I'm wondering what I can expect from those, especially after I put a Smalser J36 in. The HFPCs scare me after reading what happened to Paul's otherwise-stock J30A4 when he was testing the M90 blower: the front precat failed and blew the whole motor when material got sucked back into the front bank of cylinders.

Anyone else running those HFPCs Rich made when he did the 4g/8g PCDs?

I'm pretty sure I'll core out the honeycomb on mine and convert them to PCDs when I get the J36 swap. I can't stand the thought of risking a custom J36! :bawling:
