So i am wondering which of these to get. I am kinda scared of sucking water up with teh CAI, and dont know of who makes a SRI for teh accord. So if someone could show pictures or recommend something, it would be dope.

you have to completely submerge your filter for it to hydrolock. for SRI, you can probably just make your own with good quality filter. there are plenty of pictures floating around here, just search. i'd go CAI before SRI, but that's just me.

If you are on stock height the filter of the CAI sits 14" off the ground. Do you routinely submerge your car in over a foot of water? If you do, you have larger problems to deal with :)

I've done both, basically an SRI gives you better throttle response and as you said, takes away the chance that you could hydrolock. It greatly suffers from heat soak and bogging, especially when you're dealing with traffic.

CAI gives you less throttle response but gives a consistent source of cold air which is super important, gives better gains after repeated runs...I say that only because I've seen SRI's make better gains on a dyno, but in real world conditions you have to look at where the filter sits and that should tell you everything you need to know. I've also seen dyno's of SRI done after repeated runs and they numbers keep going down as the heatsoak starts to effect it, while it doesn't do that with a CAI.

But Blackhawk is right, the K&N is nice because you can convert it from CAI to SRI.

Wow thanks for the responses guys. So besides just the AEM V2, are their any other oens that people have used with success or would recommend over others???

There are the AEM V1 & V2, Fujita, Injen, K&N, and eBay. Supposedly the V2 gives the best gains and sounds the best. I've never heard it in person so I don't know. I have the Fujita and it sounds great, but might have to see if I could get the V2 cheap :D

The 5ATs have gotten into the 14s with the Injen, but not the V2..I'm not sure about the Fujita. Also, in a review the Injen was said to have more noticeable torque at low RPMs although similar to the V2 at high RPMs. Hope that helps.

I heard this with the RSX when I had it. Is there a claim that the Injen design is better than the AEM V1 and gives better torque?

Ya SRI are more for the sound than the performance.... I just feel safer using a SRI because i KNOW ill never hydrolock! :)
You ever take a look where the CAI filter ends up the only way your will hydro lock is if you try to drive throw 2 feet of water.

I always felt the sri had better throttle response and low-end torque. While the cai had better sound and top end power, not to mention that reduction of heat soaking. Also hydro locking is very hard to do.

You are correct, it does have better throttle response without a doubt. Low end torque is debatable, I'm sure it depends on the engine.

And I've done the measurements, the CAI filter sits 14" off the ground if you are stock height. If you drive through 14" of water you have a great deal more to worry about than hydrolocking - like dying. That's enough water to sweep your car away if it's a flash flood. If it's standing water, that's enough to enter your cabin.

does anyone know of any SRI available for the v6 other than the k and n typhoon?

also, on the bseries SRI's often lost low end torque, whereas well designed CAI's would gain low end torque. does anyone know if the same holds true for the Jseries? i dont want to lose low end by putting on an SRI.

i know a SRI called buy a cone filter and a piece of pipe from menards
