Well fellas, I searched but couldnt find a decent answer as Iam not too technical with audio stuff. I have a system in my car which my friend installed it for, he used to work for a car audio shop and he used to do installation for living. I have two 10" subs with a kicker Amp. He ran thick wire through the battery with a fuse close the battery, used a line convertor from the rear speakers, used a 12V line from the stock stereo which I believe is required for the amp. For alomost two years, the system worked great untill one day after my homeboy returned the car after a couple of days, I noticed there wasnt enough bass. I check the amp and the power was off. I thought the amp is gone but I also have another amp which a friend of mine gave me so I swapped the amps, tested it but also stopped working after a few minutes. Right then I noticed that the Protection light was on.

Iam guessing that the Kicker amp is also working but is in the protection mode. How do I solve this issue. My friend who istalled it, doesnt live in Vegas anymore and I dont have his contact number anymore.

If the amp is going into protect, it's either going to be the sub or amp. Since the amp was swapped, this leads to the sub. If you get a hold of a DMM, check the impedance/resistance of the subs. A partially blown or low resistance sub can cause problems.

i dont think fuses matter because if you blew a fuse no light would com on. i would check your ground. it might have come loose. after that make sure your drawing the right impedance from the sub. if you have two 4ohm subs pulling 2ohm from an amp that cannot sue 2 ohm i think protection will come on. but first things first, make sure the ground is secure.
