Hey all,

I was wondering how big a scratch on one's vehicle the touch-up paint can handle. In the manual it says like don't use it on big scratches. Well, I was wondering what a 'big' scratch is. I have a scratch on the left corner of my rear bumper thats past the paint and I'd like to get rid of it. The scratch is apx. 5" long and 1/3" tall. I'll try and find a digi cam to take a pic of it. Any help is much appreciated, thanks!

Anyone have any pics of jobs done with touch up paint? Preferably on a silver car so I can get an idea of what it would look like.

best thing to do. run ur nail across the surface of the scratch, if you can feel it catching you will either need to have it wet sanded, or maybe the whole area repainted. if you don't feel it catching all you'll probably need is a slightly abrasive polish to smooth it out.

i would never paint a scratch with touchup paint. i ONLY use touchup paint to cover very little chip marks that i get on my hood and bumper. hope this helped.

p.s. this shoulda gone in the detail and care section.

Yea I've done that. The paint is gone. :(

And there's no detail and care section under the 7th gen forums.

Oh and how much would it cost to have the area repainted? And do you mean by 'area'? Would the entire rear bumper be painted?

the detail and care section is under the main page.

anyways what i mean by 'area' is they'll probably just repaint that scratched area only and blend out to match the color the best they can. no, they probably won't repaint the whole bumper, unless u want them to that is. i can't tell you how much it would cost but if u go to the local body shop they'll be able to give u an estimate.
