Hey it's been awhile since your post but just wanted to throw it out there- I had the same issue with my 98 coupe. The problem is that there is a layer of insulation/ foam padding correct? I will take pics in a little bit but when running the power cable for my amp, I found that there is a hole in the firewall that is good for that sort of thing- problem is that second layer makes it hard to get through and it feeds into a location that is pretty far up behind the dash. But fear not, with some dexterity and some fishing you can get it pulled through. It's on the passenger side, and with mine I literally stabbed a knife through the padding layer and worked it open. Next trouble was reaching up inside the dash and pulling the damn thing through. First you need to push as much of the wire through as you can from the engine side. You'll have to work it though cause there are some parts dash side that can snag the wire. Also you have to make sure when you push it through it's oriented in a way that allows some slack to hang so that you can get a grip on it. I'll try and post some pics soon
