-I have recently put a good amount of money bringing this car back up to snuff. Having said that, Hondata is definitely going to be a future mod this spring.

- With this in mind, am I able to purchase a ecu out of a (04-06) manual TL, and be able to tune the TL ecu via hondata in the spring?

-Also, are there any real "concerns" running the original j30 ecu on the j32. All stock right now, always run 91+ octane.

Per hondaTa you need a 07-08 tl ecu, and it needs to be modified if you get the AT one since the Mt one are rere and cost and arm and a leg

U can run the j32a3 with the stock ecu but dont go wot. It will run lean.

Also, what are the advantages/disadvantages of installing a 04-06 M/T TL ecu instead now?

As of now, I can honestly forsee just 4 " intake, and exhaust this year. If I planned on supercharging or installing J35 heads, will hondata be needed?

You can use an AT ecu and hack it with hondata to make it a MT (read the hondata manual)

If you are doing heads you will need hondata to get the most out if it.

If you run the ECU you now without hondata you will get a Check engine light. I do have a harness I can sell you (200 shipped) but you need the canbus wire from hondata (50), and I have a way to program it and provide technical support. OR you can buy a new hondata harness for 350+ shipping and go to the dealer and have them reprogram the new ECU to match with your vinn and immbolizer. Up to you. Just throwing the offer out there.

You can search a few hondata thread in here. I helped someone installed hondata on their car like 2 weeks ago. There another one in Ohio that I did about 1 month and a half ago.

yes sir, I have not been able to locate a 04-05 M/t Ecu yet, cant imagine trying to find a 07-08 ecu..

I really appreciate all the help from you guys on this site. from reading the thread "is flash pro worth it", I learned that a 04-05 mt TL ecu is really all i need for now guys.. until I install j35 heads etc. I will be contacting Dom for tuning in the future.

In response to the other post, yes, in one way it is a waste of money going to install the 05 m/t ecu, than switching out to an 08 ecu when more serious mods (heads etc.)are in place. The car is a DD right now, as far as mods go this summer, Only 4"intake and exhaust will be going on, which in my understanding, the 05 TL ecu will handle just fine for now.

P.S- I also mentioned, as soon as I locate a 05 tl ecu, my mechanic has a mobile source to match the immobilizer and all the works to my car. I will update as soon as it's in.

 

I'm pretty sure I used a 04-06 AT ECU, soldered the cruise control and hooked up flash pro. The Hondata "hack" is a simple click of the mouse to select which trans you have.

 

An 04-06 Ecu will run the engine, but hondata does not support the 04-06Ecu. So if your planning on running hondata down the road it would make more sense to just get an 07-08 Ecu now and just run your stock Ecu till you have everything ready for the hondata + 07-08 tl Ecu ready. Otherwise you will have to use kens fly twice..once for the PnP 04-06 Ecu and again for the 07-08 Ecu+ hondata.

The AT mod is to do the bridge so that cruise control works.

Also the pinout on the 04-05 maybe 06 ecu are different from the 07-08. So if you repin the accord harness to run the 04-05. You better mark down which one you depin because you will have to put it back to stock, so that you can run the conversion harness to run the 07-08 ecu.

 

unfortunate hondata does not support 04-06 TL ecu.

 

If I were you I would do the flashpro before the heads. Even while mildly modded it does make a difference in drivability, and it sets you up for more potential in the future.

Also the money you put into buying a 04-05 mt ecu could be put to into getting stuff for flashpro. You might just be better off driving around with the stock ecu.

Question, thisaznboi88 and others, what does it take for a 07 Tl auto ecu to work in accordance with flash pro.
forgive me if I'm mistaken. I would need 07 tl ecu, then the flash pro unit ( like the one up for sale above), then custom tuning? On average, how much is it for all that installed on the car. I'm Also from Canada, does that change anything?

 

you also need the wiring harness and canbus harness. Go on the link that I left you way uptop from hondata. Read everything and dl the manual and read that also. It spells everything out for you.

 

And the at Ecu must be modified to work on a 6-6 accord...I found an 08 Ecu for 80 bucks...I didn't even search that hard...just google search the part number they r pretty plentiful

I personally feel head porting isn't worth it. This is coming from a guy who's gone through J30 and J37 ported heads. I dont have hard numbers being I didnt dyno from head to head but I just feel gains were made in the band, but they were minimal.

 

^ I have to agree with you for the amount of time and money it took to get the heads built. The HP gains were min. Would have been better off with some bisi stage 2 camshafts and new springs and retainers. Live and learn I guess.

 

Really, whats the estimated power gain on the head swap? I do agree, if the gains are minimal, it's really not worth the time spent swapping.
