I'm tempted to buy a new kit and send it to them.
He is turning this around in about two weeks. So if you can live without your radio for two weeks, I would pull you existing one apart and send it out. No reason to spend another $250!

Anyway, I will post more pics once it is installed so you can get a better idea if you should spend the time/money on the hydrographic printing....

Finished Install

I finished the install of my single DIN with pocket. I was able to get the factory cubby to work using the following modifications:

1. For the single DIN with pocket you do not need to remove the entire dash support but only need to remove as much as shown in the attached photo. The pocket clears just fine.

2. You need to cut off the corners of the radio mounting brackets as shown in the photos so that the cubby door will clear while opening. Why METRA didn't do this I do not know. Also, looking at the clearances, I am not convinced that the Double DIN wouldn't fit and have the cubby work. You might have to clearance the dash support a little more but I think the cubby door will still work. Someone may want to try and see....

Also attached are photos of the completed installation with both the cubby door closed and open. I think it looks pretty good and certainly much better than as received from METRA. Given the number of pattern and colors available for hygrographic printing, there are unlimited possibilities.

Overall I am pleased with it but if I had to do it again I might choose a different shade of burl. The shade I chose (WPT-496) has a little too much red/orange in it for my grey interior. The photos exaggerate the effect and it is not as noticable in person.

However, I think that a pattern that is more towards brown or grey would probably look better....

It looks nice, I would do this in carbon fiber but to each there own.

In your opinion if you had a double din would it fit with the cubby door?
I am going to be 50 this year so my days of carbon fiber are over....

I do not have a double din unit to try but looking at the clearances it would be close. Hopefully, someone with a double din will try it and post the results here.

I sold my cubby door. Sorry.

Also I was wondering do you guys have the issue of the unit suddenly blowing cold air instead of warm air? It was happening to me Saturday. Really pissed me off since it was 20*F and I had to drive for 3hrs.

Here is a greyscale image so you can judge the results without my color choice affecting your judgement.....

gray burlwood for sure fits your interior since you don't have anything else burlwood in it. props on the idea tho, does make it more appealing.

btw, wallyworld68. pls learn how to use the multi quote of the forum rather than double/tripple posting.

By playing around with the saturation I was able to simulate what the WPT-304 color would most likely look like....

i think this would be a closer match for the ones that have the fake wood trim in the car.
nice, i would have gone this same route but i dont much fancy the blue lights of the temp display, wish they could make it more stock colors.

You can change the color of the display to any color you want. There are Red, Green and Blue controls to dial it in.

Metra Honda Dash 99-7083G

I just ordered this from Crutchfield. The regular price is $249.95, but it's half price if you order a compatable stereo with it. I ordered the cheapest stereo they had for $69.99, which still allowed me to save $50 or so off the dash. I entered a Crutchfield coupon code - 3A184 - and saved $20 more. I got the dash, a JVC stereo, the mounting kit for $189.99. Thanks for the heads up on the half price dash from Crutchfield whomever it was!!!

I just installed this dash kit with the double din pioneer avic-940bt. As of right now I still have my stock cubby but obviously it's inoperable. I got the pocket on order. I haven't had any issues with it at all. When I first connected it, it was blowing cold air. But once I rehooked my battery after sub install its been working perfect ever since. I also got the stereo and the dash kit LCD all matching red like the rest of the lighting on dash. I also got it for half price through crutchfield. Ordered interior speakers elsewhere. So far I'm happy with it and glad I can have a double din in that location.

make sure to do the programming for the unit and hook up a micro USB and feed it somewhere you can reach it.
