Omni vs. Tein

I want to place an order on the set of the coilovers in this following week. I narrowed my search down to the two companies, and two types of coilovers that will suit my needs, and price range.

Omni Street Version vs Tein Basic. I can get both for the same price shipped to my door, so price does not play a role in this. I am looking for a quality coilover set that will last a long time, and would be worth the money I put in it. Tell me your opinions and thoughts.

Well I like softer ride, but I want to be at least 1 finger gap all around with the 18" wheels I'm going with. None of my friends have Tein, I only rode in cars with Skunk2s and NEX with those being super stiff especially the Skunk2s...

ALL the Teins i've seen have started rusting...

The D2s, Ksport and the Omnis hold up much better.... no rust so far on my friend's after 2 years. But my friend's Tein's is so rusted right now only after 4 years.

I doubt I'm gonna see any rust at all. I'm at evergreen state no winters really just rain, and the car is gonna be garaged after the mods installed. Not looking for a really stiff ride my friend has his NEX coilovers for like 4 years he got some fed up with them that he got Tanabe springs and illuminas instead. I want controllable ride height so springs are not an option for me :D.

Pretty much everyone touched the base on how the ride is with the Teins vs. Omni Powers but you should also consider the preload characteristics of your suspension. Since the Teins do not have a separate height perch (like the Omnis) you adjust the height by adjusting the preload, ultimately reducing your shock travel. For most people this is not too much of a problem but it is nice knowing that you will not bottom out when driving your car. The Omnis allow for more adjustment in terms of your height and preload settings. Since they have the separate height perch they allow you to adjust the ride height without touching the preload, you will have full shock travel no matter what your ride height is as long as you do not mess with the preload.

Tein's spring rates are rather soft when comparing them to the Omni Powers. The Teins come stock with 7K (front)/4K (rear) spring rates with their SS and Basic coilovers. These springs are rather soft and provide a nice comfy ride when comparing them to the Omni Powers (10K (front)/6K (rear))

So there are pros and cons to both the Teins and Omnis. I really cannot say which ones you should get because personally I like a nice stiff ride but would prefer a name like Tein over Omni so for me it is a toss up. You should consider alternative companies that make suspension components for your car other than Tein and Omni Power (I'm sure you can find other coilover makers who have coilovers in the same price range).

I heard Teins are simple to overhaul...though they supposed to lost over a while however any suspension components are prone to failing due to your driving habits, and weathering conditions.

~I will go with Teins since it provide enough lowering compability for me, and I would wish for a softer ride. Thursday night is when I will order my set thanks for all the help~

Omni $650 shipped and Tein Basic will run me at $675 ordering after I go to the bank. Pay day today :). I will post up a thread with pictures as soon as I get them, but they won't be installed until my wheels get here too, which should be in a week after.

wow nice, u have same mind as mine, ^^, but i know rims gonna take longer time so i ordered my rims and then the suspension. I also wanna tell u my opion, i took Tein Basic becauz they give me good price and some of my friends bought it and says its pretty good. And as i tested it, yeah, its really soft and good for daily driving. But as some1 said, its not gonna low ur car more than 2.2" (i droped my car 2").
