oh my...well, if I were to recommend an ECU for your engine, the j32a3, I would suggest the j32a3 ECU

 

2003 ecu will not work you need a 2004+ TL ecu. He screwed up

 

ok, thanks for the reply. does it matter if the 2004+ TL ecu is out of a types s, auto, manual etc? also, I am assuming years 04-07 would only work correct?

Sorry to contradict myself here... but my mechanic said that the j32 may have came out of a 2004 as opposed to an 05. Will it matter if I get a 2004 or 2005 ecu off another TL? I appreciate your help.

04-05 ECU will work for your motor. The only issue running the newer ecu is you have to repin a ton of wires and you will still get a CEL. I do not know what you have to change on your car to get the j32a3 ecu to work.

Stupid question, but why do you want to switch to the j32a3 ecu? Tune differences? It sounds like your current ecu is handling it well, and the only possible issue I can think of going on is that you may be running lean which could be fixed with some RDX injectors, a piggyback, or hondata.

 

not a stupid question at all. I was under the assumption that I needed the j32 ecu for it to run correctly? The car runs great after the swap, as mentioned, it does run a little lean up top. Can the original j30 ecu efficiently run the j32? sorry for all the questions guys, this is my first 6-6. I appreciate all the help.

 

you can't tune with the stock j30 ecu. There a thread about hondata and how we have to spend 1000+ bucks to get it to work.

yes, he has a mobile source in the GTA that comes to his shop, and will reprogram the ecu.

yes your right. apologies, but I made a thread a while back on how it was running on the dyno. Looking back, I was glad I stuck with the stock j30 ecu for now. Thanks to guys like thisaznboi, it is really unnecessary to swap in a 06< TL ecu, because if you ever wanted to program your car, you would need to swap out and get another 07-08 TL ecu, then reprogram your key again etc... it's a big hassle.

From first hand experience, if you guys are looking to directly swap j32a3 into in my case a gen 7.5 accord, I would recommend leaving the stock ecu in place until you are at the point where you want/need Hondata where as mentioned before, need 07-08 ecu ( all specifics are in a sticky, thanks to thisaznboi, great info on what you need, and support a member like dom for all custom tune needs). stock ecu did not run lean in my case.

also, made 230whp with a dirty airfilter, winter wheels, and an hour and a half stop and go drive to the dyno. Not to bad in my books for a completely stock j32.

hey guys, I have been running on stock 3.0 ecu after my j32a3 swap in my 2006 6-6 for a few weeks. Question for you guys, my mechanic ordered a 2003 TL types s ecu. Will this set up work, fly by wire etc? If not, which ecu will work on my set up. The j32a3 was out of an auto TL, 2005.
