Just a note*

If you're going to use the 3M they provide and stick it on your sideskirt instead of drilling holes, chances are there is a high risk of damaging the lights during daily driving such as going over bumps/driveways

I usually hate this kind of stuff, but I must say that this is a pretty nice feature.

I also feel that you made a good choice using the dome light logic to control this circuit. I think it's really nice that they come on when you unlock your car. They would also come on right after you shut off your engine and you pull your key out. Nice =)

And yes, those are just diffused LEDs. IMO, the white LEDs are a nice touch if you're going for a clean tuner look. They're too white for my tastes though. I would prefer something with a shift towards yellow, somewhere between LED-white and halogen-yellow. LED is definitely the way to go in this application though, you don't want to be changing halogen bulbs inside your side skirts too often ;D

edit: I think I will consider doing this project, after my footwell-lighting project. If I ever get around to it (probably not until the end of this summer), I'll post a DIY. The hardest part would be mounting the LEDs inside the side skirt in such a way that it will last.

How would you wire it to NOT come on while you're driving and the rear passengers was to turn on the dome light?
if thats the case, you wouldnt wire to the dome lights, for sure. an alternative is to wire it to the door lights... so it would only turn on when the doors are open.

so i would have to buy 2 of these kits?
No, you would not have to buy 2 of these kits. You would simply have to wire them to the door lights that only comes on when your doors open. Does your rear passengers open the door when you're driving? Ummm... I didn't think so.

Fortunately for us, that is incorrect. The way that any professional would wire these "puddle lights" would allow them to use the "DOOR" logic from the dome lights. In other words, these lights would come on exactly the way that the dome light would come on if it was left on the "DOOR" setting. Flipping the switch on the dome light would not turn the puddle lights on.

The reason for this is that the dome light actually has constant 12v feed. When you flip the switch, it grounds the bulb on the GROUND side of the circuit. When you leave the switch on the DOOR position, the dome logic is also on the GROUND side of the circuit. All you'd need to do is tap into that ground before the logic point.

Here's what I'm talking about:

If you want to tap into the switched ground, look for the Green/Red wire by slot #10 (connector I, with 5 cavities, should be light green).
