I'm going to get a 4 banger accord to drive now, and then swap in the 6 speed/j35 in one o' these days, probably after I finish school. would it be better to get the v6/auto or a I4/manual? this is good information, when I start working on the project i'll probably be on this site a lot more.

going back to the RL cams. I know they would fit in the J30 or J32 heads but there was talk that they could posibly decrese power because of the bigger lobes. is this true and if not which cams (cl-s or RL) provide more power/torque?

I'll be playing with my stick next month lol......but ummm I got the tranny put together (special thanx to NVA-AV6 for helping me and tuner girl for giving NVA-AV6 the lube to get the job done) now I just need to get the engine put together then learn to drive it

The assembly

RL cams won't work. Simply too short.
CL-S cams are fine. Entire valvetrain needs to be upgraded with more aggressive custom cams along with ECU tuning. Which is why LS1/LS2 domestic crowd has full aftermarket support and easy to upgrade. Not a chance here where mega time/money needs to be spend to make parts, perfect the dyno tuning and prove the reliability.

Engine Swap

Ok so im thinking CL-S complete engine. And then tear it apart and put 02-04 Odyssey crank and rods in. And then 05 RL Pistons. Will this work? And will since i will be putting this into a 98 accord coupe. Will I be able to keep the auto tranny? And will i be able to just plug this thing up to the factory wiring harness and all and have it run? Not quite sure what else would have to be modified. So any help would be appreciated.

The enigne build will work in general, but there are a couple issues you need to deal with.

1. the 98 ECU sucks and will not run a 3.5L engine.
2. the 98 ECU sucks and does not have Knock sensor support.
3. the CL-S engine uses different cam and crank sensors that are specific to the CL-S ECU
4. the 98 ECU uses a dizzy (distributer)

If you want to stay AT, my suggestion would be to get J35A4 from eaither a Pilot or Oddy, rebuild it with new bearings and RL Pistons. Get the wire harness ,ECU and tranny from a 02-03 Oddy, not only will this setup run well without tuning, it will upgrade the 4sp AT to a beefier 5sp AT.

pardon my ignorance, but will changing the tranny create a need to change anything in terms of the shifter housing and/or dash gauge like the 6sp swap? and will the increase to RL piston remove the practicality of running on 87 octane?

i'm looking into the most practical swap for a daily driver which is quick and doable for someone (me)with limited knowledge; so far i'm thinkin just dropping a J35A4 plus av6 bolt-ons and staying NA or taking the above suggestion.any comments?

my question is simlimar to manofsteel"s above except i was wondering i wanted to switch to a cl-s 6 speed tranny and which eninge would be better to go with the j32 or the j35, which one can out put more power as well?
