Another newbi

You would get the clutch master cylinder, pedals, resevoiur and shifter from the 4cyl, cables, slave cylinder from the CL more than likely and then fab up the clutch hydraulic line.

And a J35 + 6sp in that light of a car will def be fun.
OK i have a 98 accord j30, i really want to do the cl 6mt but dont want the j30... whats my best option if i want to go FI eventually.
what bolts straight to the cl 6mt and can be dropped into the accords engine bay ?

In addition, if 11:1 CR is too high for you, you can use '03 CL-S pistons with 10.5:1 CR.

'03 CL-S (pistons) - 10.5:1 CR or
'05 RL (pistons) - 11.0:1 CR
I think i've posted this before. but CL-S pistons in a 3.5 block will not = 10.5:1 compression. The longer stroke of the 3.5 crank will increase the compression. I have no done the math yet but it would probably be close to 11:1 once you factor in the extra stroke.

I'm not really interested in all motor, but just a little curious, ok, which motor would be best to use for n/a? What would be the best compression ratio, with out having to pump more than 93 octane?

Also if no one minds answering, which would be the best parts to get if going all motor?

Oh...last thing, which compression ratio would be safe to run no2 on?

questions

Ok I've been thinking about this swap for long time and now finally I have just about all the details and info, but a few questions still remain, ok if I go with the J35a4(02-04 oddessy) block and the J32a2(cls) head, WHICH would be the best intake manifold for this? Off the oddessy? RL? CLS?

Next question is, since we don't have anyone that makes after market cams for us, which cams would be best for this swap? Or are the cls cams the only ones to directly fit the cls head?

Need help with a j30

Just bought a 99 j30 only to find out they didn't make a maual tranny for that generation, I need to know what to do as far as the ecu is concerned. Trying to put this in my sand rail frame. Any help would be great. :banghead:

what would be the total price for a j32 engine/auto tranny swap? all the parts and such necessary for the whole swap. a low millage engine of course.

not including maintenance.

Well I just read all 18 pages of this thread, took quite a while too. really seems like a ship without a captain though now that the knowledgeable people aren't contributing as much in the more recent posts the past few months.

I have CL-S cams i am looking to add to my j30a1. But I am considering doing a headswap too. If I use CL-S heads, approx how much would it cost to get the j30a1 pistons shaved to match? Also, If I use J35a3 or J35a4 heads, do I still need to get the j30a1 pistons milled?

I read that I can also upgrade to 7th gen V6 pistons in order to avoid getting my j30a1 pistons milled. How much would these pistons cost, and would there be any performance benefit? can Cl-S pistons be swapped in on a j30a1 block?

I hope my questions were clear enough. Just looking for bang for the buck upgrades that won't require pulling the block. Really hoping to get some help. Thanks guys!!

CL-S heads are getting hard to come by at good prices, J35A4 heads are you best bet, I would just get the entire top end including injectors, runners intake and throttle body.

Pistons are around $40ea and ring about $30ea, you will need to hone the cylinders before installing the pistons and rings. The J30 is a 86mm bore, the J32/35 are 89mm bore so those pistons will not fit a J30 block.

Thank you NVA-AV6 for your reply.

Okay so CL-S pistons are out of the question, and J30a4 pistons are too expensive (70x6..yikes 320 bucks on top of the cost of heads!) if using CL-S heads.

Would I still need to tamper with the j30a1 pistons if I use MDX heads
with CL-S cams? roughly how much would a machine shop charge for that the piston milling?

i will get intake manifold, tb, runners, and fuel rail (reuse av6 injectors, serge did it) down the road from either a CL-S or any j35 that is comparable (j35a4 intake manifold is better than j32a1 but not as good as j32a2 intake mani?)

new to the boards, well known with accords, lol

anyways, i found a great deal on a j32a2 setup w/ 6spd manual. ive searched and searched but still havent found the actual answer to my questions. Aside from the parts needed for the transmission swap, is the engine a plug and play setup? also, what do I need to run the ecu? Will i need the richieV6 harness? Thanks guys, let me know.

NVA-AV6 -
You said the harness. Are you talking about the engine wiring harness? Is there a way to use the factory one in the car now. If i change out the wiring harness, will it all plug up to the sensors and such inside the cabin? Also, will all my extras work properly like vtec, and reverse lock-out? Give me what ever info I need, I want to be sure Im doing everything correctly. Also, what about all the motor mounts? Thanks guys.
