If running both the engine and trans you will need the harness and ECU to run it right, the CL-S 6sp uses a uniqe set of sensors that are not compatabile with the AV6 ECU.

I have performed a couple engine swaps w/ b-series. never with a J. As for the wiring harness, I've never had to switch that out either. Is that a difficult process? Does it pretty much hook up to the stuff there now, ie. abs, cruise control, etc.

The connectors on the 03 CL-S 6mt are very uniqe, the engine harness is easy to replace with the engine.
Paul I have some question for, I saw this mod from mike

full 03 CL-S engine
using cl-s pistons(trying to get some JE's)
odyssey crankshaft
odyssey connecting rods (cyro'd)
odyssey connecting rod bearings
odyssey main bearings

if I mod the J32a2 like this is it will be J35a2 and alot better or same power?
how about if I put spacer intake runner from J35a4 to J32a2 it will be help and add more power?
which one better buy the whole engine J35a4 or build j32a2 to J35a2? Thanks Paul

^ if my memory serves me correct yes that would be a 3.5 giving much more power. and as for the intake spacer from honda like the one on i believe the ridgeline would make it to tall to fit under the hood. but i could be wrong and just pissing in the wind so let NVA say the final word. :up2:

Use 02 MDX parts instead of the oddy parts, the MDX parts are factory forged, the oddy parts are cast.

I have a CL-S manual and have been collecting all the info i need for the 3.5 conversion. I was going to get a junkyard engine and swap internals. So it would be better to get a MDX engine rather then the Odyssey because the crank/rods are forged? Would i still need to check the crank and rods even if it had low miles??

tranny swap

If i swap my j30a1 tranny for a J35A would that better to run for a twin turbo cuz im hearin that the j30a1 will break down on me or should i just change the eninge i have a accord v6 2000

ok this just hit me... how would a J30 with cl-s pistons and a j35 head act?? i know the j30 block is prob the strongest, but with the bore and diff head setup, what would be the hp difference?? a large amt or very little?

also could i use the MDX crank and rods to increase tq???

^^ check the 6th gen section for a thread called "6th gen love". I think NVA-AV6 talks about these different combinations.

Cl-S (j32a2) pistons won't fit into j30a1 sleeves because they are 93mm vs the 89mm sleeves. If you have additional bolt ons and you get j35 heads it should be roughly 10-15whp gains.

the popular mdx engine is the j35a3, if you want to use crank and rods to stroke the stock j30a1 to a 3.3L j30a1 (aka j33a1) you need to use the 02-04 odyssey crank and rods (engine code j35a4).

Thanks goes to NVA-AV6 for educating me on this.

I thought the cl-s piston were 89mm and the j30 were 86mm.. I guess i just misread the information. also would the TB off the cl-s direct fit the j35 im??

The J30 is a 86mm bore, the J32/35 are 89mm bore so those pistons will not fit a J30 block.
NAV-AV6 were you talking bout j32a1 or the cl-s in post #515?

yeah, sorry, i knew it was a difference of 3 or 4 and one of them was 89. :bonk: oh well you get the gist.
